Parks and Recreation
In 2001, the Common Council recognized the need to provide its rapidly growing population improved parks and expanded recreational activities. The Parks and Recreation Department was established and a Director hired.
The Department, which is staffed by the Recreation Program Director and an Administrative Assistant are responsible for the development, delivery, and administration of all city-sponsored recreational programs as well as scheduling the use and rental of park facilities such as the Lions Den. Park properties and facilities are maintained by a two-person crew under the direction of the Department of Public Works.

Day Trips, dance classes, Safe Sitter, music classes, craft classes, exercise classes, ceramics classes, instructional sports, tennis lessons, golf lessons, swimming lessons, playgroups, and art classes to name a few. The Elkhorn Recreation Department has an activity for every age and ability level.
