Since August 27th,
the Elkhorn Police Department has responded to a rash of
burglaries to local businesses. Through September 3rd,
the police department has received a total of eight burglary
complaints, with all but one occurring during this past Labor
Day weekend.
The first reported burglary occurred at Zandi’s Restaurant,
located in the Elkhorn Business Centre, at 781 East Geneva
Street. The burglary took place sometime during the evening
hours of Sunday, August 26th and the morning of
Monday, August 27th. The suspect(s) entered the
building and stole an undisclosed amount of cash.

The next series of reports were received on Saturday, September
1st.
Upon arriving to open for business, an employee of the Elk
Restaurant,
located downtown at 13West Walworth Street,
discovered someone had burglarized the business. Sometime during
the late evening hours on Friday, August 31st and
approximately 3:20 AM on Saturday, September 1st, an
unknown suspect(s) forced entry into the building and removed an
undisclosed amount of cash.
Also,
on Saturday the department received reports of burglaries to the
Arrhythmia Center for Southern Wisconsin/Elkhorn Family Clinic
building, located at 100 South Washington Street, and the
Elkhorn Income Tax
Service/Dr.
Thomas Dental Office building, located at 300 South Lincoln
Street. Those burglaries were also believed to have taken place
during the evening hours of Friday, August 31st and
the morning of Saturday, September 1st. The only
thing that appeared to have been taken during the burglaries was
cash.

On Sunday, September 2nd, the department received the
second series of burglary reports. The owner
of Fiddlesticks Cafe, which is located in “The Elk Center,”
at 101 Evergreen Parkway, #7, arrived to work and also
discovered that his business had been burglarized. While
checking other businesses located in the strip mall, officers
discovered two additional businesses were also burglarized, Pure
Hair & Body and Budget Blinds. The burglaries
occurred sometime after 11 PM on Saturday, September 1st
and 5:45 AM on Sunday, September 2nd and taken was an
undisclosed amount of cash.
On Monday, September 3rd, the department received a
report of another burglary, this occurring to Lyle’s TV &
Appliance, located at 17 South Washington Street. Sometime
during the evening of Saturday, September 1st and the
early morning hours of Monday,
September 3rd, an unknown suspect(s) forced
entry into Lyle’s TV & Appliance, disabled the alarm system and
removed a substantial amount of home electronic items; including
a number of “LG” brand televisions. The suspect(s) are believed
to have utilized Lyle’s TV & Appliance trucks to remove the
stolen items and then returned the trucks during the early
morning hours of either Sunday or Monday.
Anyone
who may have seen the trucks operating during that time period,
or have information about any of the burglaries is asked to call
Detectives at the Elkhorn Police Department at (262) 723-2210 or
Walworth County Crime Stoppers at

you may remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward.
Businesses are asked to take
extra precautions and people are asked to contact the Elkhorn
Police Department to report any suspicious activity. Businesses
are also reminded that the Elkhorn Police Department offers a
free service to local businesses, where a specially trained
officer will evaluate the security of your business and provide
recommendations on what may be done to increase your security
and reduce the risk of becoming the victim of a crime. Anyone
