Regulations
Parking is not permitted:
In the downtown business district from 3:00am – 6:00am
Semi tractors and/or trailers on any city street, which
includes the business park, or public parking lots.
Library parking lot between the hours of 10:00pm – 6:00am,
this includes the side parking area on N. Washington Street
Across a sidewalk or on terraces ( the area between the
street and sidewalk)
All other locations where signs are posted.
Parking Limitations:
Westside School: "No parking 7:30am – 4:30pm during
scheduled school days" on W. Page Street, Van Buren Street, and
Sunset Drive, both sides of the street. "No parking here to
corner" on the north side of W. Jefferson Street between Olsen
and Sunset Drive.
Jackson Elementary School: "No parking 7:30am – 4:30pm
during scheduled school days" on the east side of North Jackson
Street.
From 8:00am – 6:00pm two hour parking is permitted in the
downtown business district.
Recreation vehicles and motor homes are not allowed on any
street for more than three hours and only while the vehicle is
being unloaded or loaded.
25 Hour Limitation: No person, firm or corporation shall
park or leave standing any automobile, truck, tractor, trailer
or vehicle of any description on any public street or public
parking lot, owned by the City in the City for a period of 25 or
more consecutive hours in the same location at any time, except
that where more restrictive parking limits have been
established, the more restrictive limits shall apply.
Seasonal Parking Regulations:
December 1st – April 1st, parking or leaving standing
of any vehicle on any street in the City is prohibited when the
National Weather Service has issued any of the following winter
storm messages which are in effect for our area; winter weather
advisory, winter storm warning or blizzard warning. These
parking restrictions will remain in effect for a period of 12
hours after the expiration of the winter storm message.
April 15th – August 15th, parking is prohibited on the south
side of W. Centralia Street from Park Street to Devendorf Street
by the baseball diamonds.
Parking Ticket Fines:
Parking fines are $20 except for handicap parking which is
$75. Those fees will increase to $40 and $125 respectively if not paid within ten days. If the
fine is still not paid within 30 days, the fine will increase to
$80 and $200 respectively. If parking tickets are not paid, the
vehicle registration is subject to being suspended by the State
of Wisconsin for an additional $5 fee charged to the owner. When
your vehicle registration is suspended, you are unable to renew
your vehicle registration and may be stopped and cited for
operating a vehicle with suspended registration.
Parking Violations May Be Paid By The Following Methods:
In person at the Elkhorn Police Department Monday thru
Friday, from 5:45am – 9:45pm and on Saturdays from 8:00am –
4:00pm.
By mail
In the drop boxes located at the Elkhorn Police Department,
City Hall and on the corner of E. Walworth St. and N. Wisconsin
St.
By credit card, (800)272-9829 (use jurisdictional code of
5869) or
www.officialpayments.com. People paying by credit card must
call the police department with a confirmation number or the
ticket will not be credited. There is a service fee for this
method of payment.
In order to check on the status of a parking ticket, you will
need to call the Elkhorn Police Department during normal business
hours of Monday through Friday, 5:45am – 9:45pm. Please be able to
provide either the ticket number or the license plate of the
vehicle that received the ticket. Any questions regarding parking
