2024 Garbage and Recycle Information
Badgerland Disposal, LLC, an LRS company is the new service provider for the City of Elkhorn beginning January 1, 2024. LRS sent out a welcome packet including detailed information about the transition and their implementation plan. Information also included in the mailing is a route map and annual calendar.
The City’s residential solid waste, recycling, and yard waste collection fee will be increasing on January 1, 2024. The increase is the result of a new contract with Badgerland Disposal, LLC, an LRS company, and City costs to provide leaf collection and yard waste services. As a result, the City’s monthly service fee per household will be adjusted from $17.34 to $19.85. In addition, the City will continue to list any monthly diesel fuel surcharges or rebates on your bill and will vary depending on average diesel fuel prices.
The City understands this price increase is significant and comes at a difficult time for City residents due to increased housing costs, food prices, and other living expenses. Unfortunately, this price increase is unavoidable. The Common Council accepted the least expensive proposal the City received for garbage and recycling collection when the Council approved the new contract with Badgerland Disposal, LLC. If you have any questions, please contact the City of Elkhorn at (262) 723-2219.
***The fee change will be reflected on the bill that will be mailed February 29, 2023 (due March 20, 2024).
