COMPOST SITE (YARD WASTE DROP-OFF)
GENERAL INFORMATION:
The purpose of the compost site is for the disposal of residential branches, yard waste and grass clippings.
The City of Elkhorn's Compost Site (yard waste drop-off) is free of charge to City residents only.
Commercial Contractors are prohibited.
Please note that this Compost Site (yard waste drop-off) cannot accommodate the disposal of entire trees.
Compost Site Schedule:
Opening Date: April 1st, yearly
Closing Date: 1st Sunday after Thanksgiving, yearly
Open Daily: 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. ( 7 days/week)
Location:
City DPW Facility- 401 E. Centralia Street - South end of Getzen St., (Follow Signs).
ACCEPTED MATERIALS:
Residential Guidelines
* Accepts leaves, vegetables, and grass clippings
* Accepts yard/garden debris and brush—including clean, woody vegetative material no greater than 9 inches in diameter
* Tree limbs and branches no greater than 9 inches in diameter and 12 feet in length
* 30-gallon paper bags or dry cardboard boxes no larger than 3x3 feet
* NO stumps, roots, or shrubs with intact root balls
* NO plastic bags!
Leaf burning is not allowed in the City of Elkhorn.
