Farm Stand Permit

Farm Stands located on private property require a permit, however no fee is charged for this permit.  

Farm Stands shall meet the following requirements:

  • Agricultural products, such as raw vegetables, fruits, herbs, flowers, plants, nuts, honey, eggs, jams, jellies, oils, vinegars or cheese, may be sold at Farm Stands.  Products are intended to have been primarily grown, raised or produced at farms in Wisconsin.
  • Farm stands must have authorization of the property owner and the zoning of the property must be either B1, B5 or T1.
  • The stand cannot be larger than 600 square feet and must be a minimum of 5 feet from property lines.
  • Farm Stands may be operated from 8:00 a.m. until dusk.
  • Sales are only permitted from April 1 to November 1. 
  • When the Farm Stand is not in use, it must be removed and stored off-site or indoors.

Farm Stands located on public property must obtain a Direct Sellers Permit (see list to right).  No permit fee is charged for Farm Stands on public property, however, insurance is required.
