Brush Collection and Chipping

The Public Works Department operates a Spring (April, May & June) and Fall (October) Brush Collection Program for City of Elkhorn residents. This operation is staffed by the Department of Public Works personnel who collect branches placed at the curb by residents during their scheduled collection week.

Spring Brush Collection Schedule (April, May & June) 2024

Tuesday, April 2, May 7 & June 4: Northeast Section: North of Walworth St & East of Wisconsin St.

Tuesday, April 9, May 14 & June 11: Southeast Section: South of Walworth St & East of Wisconsin St.

Tuesday, April 16, May 21 & June 18: Southwest Section: South of Walworth St & West of Wisconsin St.

Tuesday, April 23, May 28 & June 25: Northwest Section: North of Walworth St & West of Wisconsin St.

The City is divided into 4 sections; each section has an assigned week each month for three months for the Spring Brush Collection. The City's DPW personnel have from Tuesday thru Friday of each week to collect the brush. Do not place brush on the terrace after DPW personnel have gone by, they will go through the route once during the week.

Fall Brush Collection Schedule October 2024

Monday - Friday

East of Wisconsin St.:  Weeks of October 7 & October 21

West of Wisconsin St.:  Weeks of October 14 & October 28

The City is divided into 2 sections; each section has an assigned 2 weeks in October for the Fall Brush Collection. The City's DPW personnel have from Monday thru Friday of each week to collect the brush. Do not place brush on the terrace after DPW personnel have gone by, they will go through the route once during the week. 

Resident Guidelines

* Do NOT co-mingle leaves with brush.

*Place cut ends facing the direction of traveling traffic. 

*Maximum Length - 12 ft., Maximum Diameter - 9 in.

*Brush should NOT be on the terrace earlier than Saturday prior to collection week.

*Brush MUST be on the terrace no later than 7 a.m. of collection week. 

Parked cars must not block piles of brush.  If you hire a contractor for tree work, the contractor must take all debris.

Outside the collection program, residents can drop off brush at the City’s Compost Site (yard waste drop-off) located at the City's DPW Facility, 401 East Centralia St. (south end Getzen St.). Click here for more information.

Leaf burning is not allowed in the City of Elkhorn.

Christmas Tree Collection / Drop Off

Trees will be collected the week of January 6th-10th, 2025. You may also drop them off at the City Garage at the end of Getzen.
