Extraterritorial Zoning Board

Community Development incorporates the functions of planning and zoning, building permit review and issuance, code enforcement/inspection. Specific responsibilities include subdivision review, zoning code administration, building code enforcement, and administration of the Water Utility’s cross-connection inspections program. Staff advises and provides administrative support to the Common Council and Plan Commission on matters affecting growth, development, and overall planning.

General community planning is provided on a consulting basis by Teska Associates. Building and zoning services are provided on a contract basis.

  • Meets on an as needed basis on the fourth Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m.
  • ETZ agreements are with Town of Lafayette, Town of Delavan, Town of Geneva and Town of Sugar Creek (pending).
  • Members include three Citizen members of the Plan Commission and three Citizen members of each Town Plan Commission.
  • The duties of the ETZ Board are in Section 17.16 of the Municipal Code.
